A Dynamic Curriculum

SV FACES Camp Everytown is not a "ropes course" or "inspirational" seminar. It builds teamwork through respect, appreciation for diversity, and leadership skills for a changing world. Students and faculty leave empowered to build positive relationships across the deepest social divides: race, religion, gender, ethnicity, culture, income, ability, age.

SV FACES Camp Everytown is a 4 day residential, intensive, leadership training program that reduces stereotypes and prejudice, and increases understanding and respect. It is based on core values that promote non-violent campus communities. While the program has a profound effect on individuals, its real goal is to train and support them as leaders for a multi-cultural community, leveraging their skills to the rest of the student body. Students selected are viewed as both traditional and non-traditional leaders. Together they create a critical mass of change agents within the school community. Camp Everytown reduces high-risk behaviors, while it enhances faculty-student communications, police-student relations, conflict resolution skills, citizenship values and interfaith respect.

Camp Everytown focuses students' attention and learning by taking them out of their daily environment and guiding them through intense interactions that provoke immediate, deep insight and empathy for others. Students experience group exercises about: self-identity; racial, cultural & ethnic issues; family relationships; gender roles & equality; peer relationships, conflict prevention & resolution. They identify opportunities, obstacles, and solutions to priority human relations issues specific to their school, and they brainstorm action plans to recreate the Everytown environment on campus.

This "life-changing", intensive youth leadership development program breaks down all the prejudices that divide us. Camp Everytown then replaces them with understanding and appreciation for our differences, respect, trust, leadership skills and a matrix of support to make a real difference in campus life.

SV FACES Camp Everytown has been honed for 50 years and is evaluated and improved after every retreat. Over 14,000 students, educators, police and volunteers have graduated from SV FACES Camp Everytown in Silicon Valley and Northern California, and we graduate another 1,500 from camps held almost every week in each school year.
