Misguided Moran defense
Buchanan's editorial defending Congressman Moran is like reading the baseball scoreboard detail without understanding the game! While he gives ample reasons that Jews are not behind the war momentum, he's clueless about anti-Semitism. The 2 most dangerous anti-Semitic lies are the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", which Buchanan understands is fraudulent, and the notion that Jews control the media/government/power/country, which he clearly doesn't get. That latter lie has been used repeatedly to justify discrimination and genocide against Jews, ironically, by zealots across the political spectrum ¦ Hitler to Stalin. Whether or not he's an anti-Semite who intended it, his statement as a public leader fuels destructive propaganda. It plays right into the hands of those who are, once again, stating that Jews/Israel are behind the Iraq war ¦ a ridiculous falsehood! Buchanan, as many who are not the specific targets of this bigotry, fails to recognize what is actually being said, what those words will do, and what they represent to Jews.
