WHO: Silicon Valley Conference for Community & Justice is a human relations organization, is celebrating 42 years of enabling community leaders and people of diverse backgrounds to build just communities, where each person is treated with respect and understanding. Each year, SVCCJ reaches: 20,000 victims of crime, 14,000 youth and educators; 500 community volunteers and leaders; and engages over 300 faith leaders in six innovative programs across Silicon Valley.

WHAT: The 18th annual awards luncheon for student winners of contests in: art, writing, and multimedia from the East Side Union High School District. More than 3,000 students from the district's 12 high schools- covering much of San Jose - submit works to a distinguished Panel of Judges. The cash prize categories are Grand Prize, 1st, 2nd and 3rd for writing and posters from each school, and Grand Prizes only for multimedia. The audience includes almost 300 civic and business leaders, educators, students and their parents from key target demographics.

WHY: To honor and encourage leadership for a multi-cultural society, through the example of major role models, such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The students creatively interpret these teachings through art, writing, and multimedia. SVCCJ believes it is important that those lessons and beliefs affect students today and to grow them to be leaders for diversity for tomorrow.

WHEN & WHERE: Friday, January 12th, 2007, from 2-4 PM, at the East Side Union High School District Education Center.

The Costs: The event has one title sponsor at this time: Lockheed Martin Space Systems. SVCCJ is seeking additional title co-sponsor at the $10,000 level, prize category sponsors at $5,000, and school sponsors at $1,500/school.
